By the Laser Me team

An IPL photofacial may help improve suitable sun-related brown spots and uneven pigment. The first step is identifying what the discoloration is. A dark spot is a description, not a diagnosis, and the right plan begins with an assessment.

What IPL does—and what it does not tell you

IPL means intense pulsed light. Laser Me uses Candela Nordlys SWT IPL for selected pigment and redness concerns. The platform also supports fractional laser technologies, but an IPL appointment and a Frax resurfacing appointment are separate services.

Ask your provider which concern is being treated, which area is included and how progress will be assessed. If a spot is new, changing or otherwise concerning, tell the team before seeking a cosmetic treatment; it may need medical evaluation first.

Bring the full story of your skin

Your consultation is more helpful when you bring a list of current skin products, medicines, previous procedures and recent sun exposure. Mention your history of pigment changes and any prior diagnosis such as melasma. Not every type of discoloration belongs in an IPL plan.

It is also useful to explain what you want to change in everyday terms: one visible spot, overall patchiness, or redness that shows through makeup. That conversation helps distinguish your priority from a broad promise of “perfect skin.”

Plan around the way your skin may look afterward

Treated pigment can temporarily look darker, and redness or sensitivity may occur. Ask what appearance changes are expected for your settings and what symptoms should prompt a call. Your provider gives preparation and aftercare instructions specific to you.

Tell us about photographs, work commitments and holiday travel before booking. A treatment that fits your skin goals still needs to fit your recovery calendar. Do not assume that a short appointment means there will be no visible changes afterward.

Think in terms of progress, not one universal session count

The extent of discoloration, treatment area and individual response influence the proposed course. Review the next steps after each visit rather than comparing your timeline with a photograph online. Additional care or maintenance may be discussed.

For a broader plan, explore the Glass Skin Blueprint™. If texture is also a concern, ask how Nordlys Frax resurfacing differs from IPL. Your consultation is where we review the options, suitability and personalized pricing.
