Clinical Guidance for Optimal Results

Laser Hair Removal: Preparation, Procedure & Post-Care Protocols.

At Laser Me, we treat your laser hair removal journey as a clinical protocol. To ensure the safety and efficacy of your treatment, we require adherence to specific guidelines before and after your sessions. These protocols, vetted under medical direction, are designed to protect your skin barrier, optimize follicle destruction, and ensure you achieve the most consistent results possible.

Laser Hair Removal

Phase I: Preparation — The 4-Week Protocol.

Proper preparation is the first step in successful follicular destruction. Please adhere to the following 4 weeks prior to your session:

Cease Plucking, Waxing, and Threading

We require the hair follicle to be intact for the laser to effectively target the root. Shaving is the only permitted method of hair removal during your protocol.

Strict Sun Avoidance

Sun-tanned or sunburned skin significantly increases the risk of adverse reactions. Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment. If you have a tan, we may need to reschedule your session to ensure safety.

Consult on Medications

Certain photosensitizing medications (including some antibiotics and retinoids) can react with laser energy. Please provide a complete list of your current medications and supplements during your consultation so we can clear your protocol safely.

Phase II: The Day of Treatment.

Shave the Treatment Area

Please arrive with the area cleanly shaved 24 hours prior to your appointment. This allows the laser energy to bypass the hair shaft and target the follicle directly, minimizing surface irritation.

Clean Skin

Ensure the treatment area is free of lotions, perfumes, deodorants, or makeup. These substances can interfere with laser light absorption and increase the risk of surface skin irritation.

Phase III: Clinical Aftercare & Recovery.

Post-procedure, your skin will require a brief recovery period. Our aftercare protocol is designed to mitigate inflammation and protect your skin:

Strict Sun Avoidance

For 14 to 21 days post-treatment, direct sun exposure must be strictly avoided. Laser-treated skin is highly photosensitive; UV exposure during this recovery window significantly increases the risk of hyperpigmentation or other adverse reactions.

Minimize Thermal Exposure

For 48 hours post-treatment, avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and intense physical exertion. Keep the area cool to ensure the treated follicles remain undisturbed.

Sun Protection Is Non-Negotiable

If you must be outdoors, apply a broad-spectrum, mineral-based SPF 30+ daily. We recommend consistent protection throughout the full 21-day window to ensure your skin barrier heals safely and evenly.

Soothing Care

If you experience mild redness or sensitivity, apply a cold compress or a physician-recommended soothing balm. Do not use exfoliating scrubs, acids, or harsh chemicals on the treated area for at least 5 to 7 days.

The Shedding Phase

You will notice hair appearing to “grow” in the days following treatment. This is not new growth; it is the treated hair being expelled by the follicle. This shedding process typically completes within 10 to 14 days.
